For as little as $49.99 (based upon a 5,000-square-foot lawn), your lawn will be looking as green and lush as a golf course. Some lawn care services will charge you five to 10 times this price, using similar products. The best part is, it only takes about half an hour to apply each step every couple of months throughout the growing season.

 

STEP 1

Apply CrabGrass Preventer With Lawn Food from April 1 to May 15.

 

STEP 2

Apply Weed & Feed between May 1 to June 15, when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are between 68° and 85°. The best control is achieved by applying the product when the grass is moist and the wind is calm. Avoid mowing, watering or rainfall for 48 hours after the application.

 

STEP 3

Apply Lawn Food between July 1 and August 10, depending on summer heat and rains. When temperatures exceed 80° or dry conditions exist, cut application rate by half.

 

STEP 4

Apply Winterizer after September 15th. This 22-0-10 fertilizer application is the most important and beneficial of the year for cool season grasses (Kentucky Bluegrass, premium rye, and creeping red fescues) we have in our climate.
